Spotlight on Health Department Programs for National Public Health Week

During its inaugural year, the Adams County Health Department (ACHD) is centering and celebrating cultures in health to advance the health and well-being of individuals who live, work, and play in Adams County. As part of National Public Health Week (April 3-9), ACHD is spotlighting its multi-pronged and community-driven approach to increasing access to safe, affordable, and culturally relevant food for all residents.

Adams County Board of Health Members Appointed

On Tuesday, Aug. 16, the Adams County Board of Commissioners (BoCC) approved resolutions appointing five inaugural members to the new Adams County Board of Health (BOH). The BOH is structured with five members. Initial terms are two- and three-year appointments for purposes of establishing staggered terms going forward. After the initial term, BOH members will serve five-year terms.

Board of Commissioners to Withdraw from Tri-County Health Department

The Adams County Board of Commissioners intends to bring forward a resolution at the Tuesday, Oct. 26, 9:30 a.m., public hearing to provide notice of Adams County’s decision to leave Tri-County Health Department (TCHD).

Per its legal obligation, Adams County will remain a part of TCHD through December 2022. Starting January 2023, Adams County will have its own health department structure in place. There will be no disruption of services to Adams County residents during this transition.
